How to Wash a Baseball NFL Cap
Washing your baseball NFL cap can keep it clean and make it last longer. Washing your baseball NFL cap is very easy. You only need detergent and a cloth. Some hats can even be cleaned in the dishwasher. Ensure you use the proper cleaning method, so your hat still looks its best.
Method1
Choosing the Right Method for Washing Hats
1. Watch your hat. First, you should look carefully to see if your hat is washable and the proper method for washing it.
2. Check that your hat is well made and won't be damaged by washing.
- Pay attention to the material, seams, and brim of the hat. A hat that is made of good quality material and has strong seams shouldn't cause any problems washing it.
- Watch for signs that the hat needs to be better made. Hats with loose seams or cardboard brims may be damaged if washed. If the NFL cap is reasonable, you should buy a new hat instead of cleaning it.
3. Pay attention to the age of the hat. If the cap has been used for a long time, you need to be very careful about how it looks after it and should only clean it by hand.
4. Check the hat tag. There may be washing instructions or other information regarding the material on the hat on the label. Follow the washing instructions if the manufacturer includes them on the label.
- Know the type of fabric used. If the hat is made of cotton, polyester, or twill with tight seams, you may be able to wash it. If the cap is made of wool, you must hand wash it using a detergent designed for wool fabrics.
Method2
Washing by Hand
1. Make sure the color of the hat stays strong. If the cap is made of a soft material or your hat is old enough, ensure that washing it will prevent discoloration.
- Pour a small amount of mild detergent on a rag and rub it over a small area on the inside of the hat, as it will not be visible when worn. Rinse gently using cold water. If the color hasn't faded, you can continue washing the rest of the hat.
2. Clean the stains on the hat. If any part of the hat is stained or dirty, spray the area with stain remover. After that, leave it for a few minutes, then rinse it with water.
3. Fill the sink with cold water. Ensure you also add some mild detergent when filling the sink with water.
4. Dip the hat into the sudsy sink and use a cloth soaked in soapy water to scrub the hat's surface, especially the particularly dirty areas. Repeat this step as needed.
5. Rinse the hat in cold water until clean.
6. Let the hat dry. Make sure the cap dries in a shape that matches its original form. You can place the hat on top of an object shaped like a head (such as a balloon) to hold the cap in shape. Ensure the hat's brim is shaped into your preferred form while dries.
Method3
Washing in the Dishwasher
1. Purchase a special mold to hold the hat in shape while washing it. You can find plastic molds at sporting goods stores or hat shops. Some plastic molds for caps can be used in the dishwasher or clothes. The washer will work harder on your hat. Therefore, check the instructions for using the selected mold.
2. Clean stains or dirty areas. Spray the soiled areas of the hat with stain remover. Let the stain remover work for a few minutes, then rinse with water.
3. Place the hat in the plastic mold and then place it on the top rack of the dishwasher. Make sure you do not insert any other object into the machine.
4. Put dish soap in the machine.
5. Turn on the machine with the "Normal" setting. If the device is equipped with temperature settings, select cold or warm. Ensure the hat is not drying in a hot temperature or similar environment, as the heat could damage or wrinkle your cap later.
Tips
- Use the dishwasher only for hats with plastic brims. Other hats must be hand-washed.
- Please don't use too much soap; it will be difficult to wash off later. Make sure the soap has been rinsed clean before drying.
- Do not try on the hat in the sun, or it may change color.
- Don't use bleach or detergents that contain bleaching agents, or the hat's color will fade over time.
- Only use liquid detergent to wash hats.
